This was the third of the four GHA residencies that I attended and as they’ve settled back into playing live, and in particular, to performing the new material, the shows have gotten even better. They may think that last night was a little less perfect than previous weeks, but for me, when they relax and banter with each other and the crowd, I can easily forgive the occasional fluff because it’s balanced by an ease and energy that is simply outside the capability of most bands. The audience gets onside, the atmosphere is infectious, and the experience is an overwhelmingly positive one. I thoroughly enjoyed last week’s show and was a little apprehensive that this final one in the run might disappoint, but it really didn’t. The new material is powerful, beautiful and accessible, which is a potent combination and I’m incredibly excited to hear the album once it’s ready for release next year.
